INTRODUCTION

Here, you describe the topic of your activity. Whether the activity is on energy transformations of bouncing balls, identifying rocks and minerals or electric meters in your home, you might want to read the pages preceding the activity and summarize with definitions, facts, and findings.

Your introduction should not be personalized, i.e. include statements like "I will do my activity (or project) on... You will like my report... I did this, I did that..."

Have at least 10 good sentences, and/or 3 paragraphs. Remember to double space where possible, throughout your whole report. If in doubt, double space.

OBJECTIVE

In this activity, I will keep track of the amount of electrical energy my home uses in one week. (First sentence of Act 5C p94)

PREDICTION

Knowing that a family of 6 depending a lot on Central Gas uses up ~ 10 kWh per day and the same family which depends totally on Electricity for heating and appliances uses up to 75kWh per day, I predict that my home uses ____ kWh/day on the average because ....... (state facts such as: hot tub is on 24hrs/day, 2 loads of laundry per day, 10 people =10 showers/day...)

MATERIAL

pen, paper, hydro meter, ladder

PROCEDURE

1. I read the dials of the electric meter and recorded the numbers in order from left to right... (p94...)

2. I sketched the meters for each day.

3. I recorded my results on table 5.1 and plotted a graph of my results.

PRECAUTIONS

Ensure your stepladder is solid and secure.

Beware of branches poking you in the eyes...

ILLUSTRATIONS

you may decide to have a well-labelled collage of electrical
appliances and/or a picture of a meter...

remembertocolour, shade in or highlighttomakeitalittlecolourful!!

CALCULATIONS

1. In order to find the readings, take the smallest digit on one side of the needle.

2. Energy consumed this day:

see book calculation - write it in here

3. Energy consumed to date: subtract the first reading (day 0) from the present day reading.

OBSERVATIONS

actual meter reading (click here, save and print)  dials filled in for every day!!!
